Born in this lovely cosmopolitan island of Singapore amidst a multi-racial, multi-religious community that lived in harmony,

Artist Hawa lived in the eastern part of Singapore in Katong where nature and the dashing sea was so beautiful, that  she had wished,  she could capture the untouched beauty of everything around her, in paper.

Holding on to her grandmother's hands as a child, walking along Joo Chiat road, looking up, and admiring the trees which grew along the road, bearing little berries.

She first started painting those red berries, in her primary class with powdered colours which were mixed with water. She felt excited with her end result.

​

Throughout her school days, almost  all her art work was displayed on the walls of the class room. Her principal, a Britisher, had taken one of her work to the office. She was a great motivator.

When her principal retired, Artist Hawa said she had done a beautiful painting of nature for her and captioned it "God in all His wisdom must have paused for a moment to create someone like you."

Life's struggles, and duties that were a never ending task deprived  her of her painting.  

But, painting was always at the back of her mind.

After her retirement she had  time to smell the roses. she started painting again and discovered her passion and happiness.

​

People near and dear had access to her work.

 

Now she  has decided to open up her artwork to the  general public. Some she says are too precious to part.

 

Whatever  takings, some of it will go to charity.
